Rick Serina, Pastor
The Reverend Dr. Richard J. (Rick) Serina, Jr., was installed as the fifth pastor of Christ the King on February 15, 2015. He came to Ringwood from St. Louis, where he was serving as guest professor in historical theology at Concordia Seminary. A native of Tampa, FL, Pastor Serina has degrees from the University of Florida (B.A., 1999), Dallas Theological Seminary (ThM, 2004), and Concordia Seminary (PhD, 2014). Certified for pastoral ministry with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod via colloquy in 2004, he has served parishes in urban Dallas and rural West Texas. His wife Christina is a registered nurse and together they have four children: John (b. 7/16/08), Emma (b. 4/15/10), Brendan (b. 3/5/12), and Cosette (b. 1/16/14). Beyond his pastoral and academic enthusiasms, Pastor Serina enjoys jogging (not running, because he is too slow for that designation), following his beloved Florida Gators in football and basketball, playing with his children, and watching terrifically lowbrow television dramas with his wife (and terrifically boring documentaries, which he must do alone). He does not enjoy gardening, home improvement projects, working on computers, finding rattlesnakes in his garage, or backing away slowly from black bears.
